And Last But Not Least, Day 7 of Femininity

Today was a day I felt least like trying to be feminine...and yet it was the day I think helped me the most to appreciate being feminine. We had a rough night as a family emergency had us up at about 2 - after both of us went to bed a bit late. When my alarm went off this morning I felt like chucking it across the room! Yet I restrained the impulse and instead got everyone up and ready for school.

I didn't get my pictures taken until tonight, but I wanted to end the week with some of my absolute favorites. This skirt (I have no idea where I got it from, it was too long ago) is my "flirty" skirt. I call it that because of the flirty bottom, which makes me feel extra...pretty isn't the word, but I think you know what I mean.

The shirt is a peacock blue I got from Walmart, and the jacket is a brown leather I got from the Dress Barn (on a SERIOUSLY good sale last Christmas!). It's so soft and warm, and I can't get enough of the smell ♥

Here's a closeup of me in my blue shirt. Don't you think the little "ruffles" are adorable? Can you tell I do? I love the color - finding colors that look good with both my hair and my skin tone is NOT easy. But I think I struck gold here.

So what have I learned this week? To be perfectly honest it has nothing to do with others and their reactions to me in what I wear. Instead it had everything to do with how I felt about myself, and the changes in my own attitude. I became gentler in many ways, in all respects: with my children, in the way I took care of my home, in my tone, and in the way I treated myself.
I thoroughly believe being feminine has nothing to do with what we wear, but everything to do with how we represent ourselves as women, in particular as daughters of God. We were made to be the softer, gentler half of human-kind, full of mercy and open to bringing home to those around us the beautiful side of life. To diminish this is to tell our Heavenly Father we do not accept what He made us, that we reject the perfect images of loveliness He created.
So even if you don't like wearing skirts and dresses, celebrate instead being a woman of God. In doing this you can celebrate the most feminine and lovely part of yourself!

I don't like wearing skirts or dresses. So where does that leave me?

As one of the most adorable sons of our Father ever placed here on the earth :D

I wear earrings. If I forget to wear them then somehow I don't feel quite right. With them in I do feel more feminine. I'm still too chicken to try the skirt thing though. Just doesn't seem right for scrubbing the toilet. ;) I don't want to ruin the skirts I have. Maybe I need to get some that are more
Mon-Sat friendly :) Congratulations on your quest Lori. You did stupendously. On a side note, did you sleep in a night gown or did you wear pajama bottoms? I'm a little curious...

I'm curious about the nightgown thing too. And while I don't think I'll ever wear a skirt for a week straight, I have been sewing some cute ones to wear to church on Sunday. For me, it's an accomplishment if I wear a skirt all day on Sunday, let alone any other day of the week. It doesn't mean I'm not happy to be a women though. I do like being a lady!

Debbie - I don't normally wear my fancier skirts, lol. I actually have a blue denim and black denim I use for my "daily routines."

And, uh, I have a nightshirt :) Silly girls.

Let me just say, the next time you're feeling blue, or are hating the way you look (come on, you know it happens), try dressing up a bit. You'd be surprised what it can do for you ♥
